A Sustainable Commitment – Hørning and the UN Global Goals

At Hørning, we know that producing something as grounded and lasting as a wooden floor means taking long-term responsibility - not just for our products, but for the world they belong to.

That’s why we’ve aligned our work with the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). While all 17 are important, we have chosen to focus particularly on three where we believe we can make the greatest difference: Goal 12, Goal 15, and Goal 17.

Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production

This goal guides the very core of how we operate. We work continuously to optimise our resource use, minimise waste, and ensure responsible sourcing. Our manufacturing is built around solid wood, a renewable material that, when managed properly, has one of the lowest environmental footprints of any building product.

We also focus on reducing chemical waste and encouraging circular thinking. From product design to packaging, we aim to do more with less and ensure every step in our production contributes to a cleaner, more efficient value chain.

Goal 15: Life on Land

Wood is our lifeblood. Without forests, there is no Hørning. That’s why we actively support sustainable forest management through FSC^® and PEFC^™ certifications, and we strive to use timber from responsibly managed forests whenever feasible.

Goal 15 is about more than just trees. It’s about protecting ecosystems, biodiversity, and the balance that allows nature to regenerate. By choosing sustainable materials and working closely with suppliers, we help promote forest practices that protect habitats and combat deforestation.

Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals

We know we can’t solve global challenges alone. Goal 17 highlights the importance of collaboration, and this has always been central to our business. Whether it's partnering with architects, clients, NGOs, or certification bodies, we strive to be part of something bigger.

We actively seek and support cross-sector partnerships that align with our values and expand our ability to contribute to sustainable development - in Denmark and beyond.
